Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

Click on '1 Day Retreats' in the top menu to find a QR code which takes you to a Google form. Any of the 'Book a place' buttons also takes you here. Or, copy and paste this link into your browser of choice - https://forms.gle/pf2kjuaFzvMbPYDU9. After your form has been received, your place is reserved, but not guaranteed until some payment has been made.

How much is it, and how do I pay?

Each retreat day is £85 and this includes 2-3 hours of yoga, mindfulness/breathwork practice, craft tuition and materials, journalling/yoga booklet, homemade lunch and snacks. If you book all 5 days together, you get a discount of £50, making your investment a total of £375. If you are not ready to commit, I will be giving 10% off codes for additional bookings to those who attend in December.

After you complete the Google form, you will receive a payment link via the email address you provide. You can either pay £50 deposit (per retreat day) to guarantee your place and pay the full balance 6 weeks before the retreat day, or you can pay in full.

Please note that the deposits are non-refundable, as this ensures the day can go ahead as planned for the other attendees.

Why isn't Cabbage & Plum on social media?

I personally left social media a number of years ago with a need for fewer distractions when trying to complete my doctorate thesis. I realised really quickly how much negativity it brought, and occupied so much mind space that was better spent elsewhere. I'm hoping to keep Cabbage & Plum off social media too to maintain that work/life balance. You can get in touch via email or WhatsApp.

I've never done yoga, does it matter?

Not at all. Yoga is a personal practice, done in a shared space. It is no problem if you have never done yoga. Instructions given are clear and plentiful, and always safety first. All I ask is you listen to your own body and do what is comfortable for you. There are always options available (including laying in Shavasana (resting pose) for the entire time! No judgement here...

I've got an injury or medical condition, can I still take part?

This is a tricky one, and depends on individual circumstances. Most injuries and medical conditions have a yoga flow that is suitable,  and often ones that will help you rest and recover, but to keep you as safe as possible, it might be worth having a conversation before you book. Let's chat!

I'm pregnant/have recently been pregnant, can I take part?

If you are in the second or third trimester, there are definitely things that can be adjusted in yoga to ensure you can take part, it may be that you just won't be able to do everything (but this applies to everyone, pregnant or not pregnant!) It is not however, a pregnancy yoga flow.  If you have recently given birth or had a c-section, it is worth waiting until you feel comfortable and have been signed off from your doctor or midwife to return to light exercise.

Do I get a discount for multiple bookings?

Yes! I have offered a £50 discount if you book all 5 retreat days as a block. I also will offer 10% vouchers off off your next day booking when you attend your first retreat.

What is the cancellation policy?

The price includes the venue hire, cost of craft materials, cost of food, planning, tuition, design and printing, equipment hire, charity donation and my own time.  I keep numbers small to make sure it is an enjoyable and individualised experience. If you are unable to attend a retreat day for whatever reason, I will ask if you can move it to another of the yearly dates where possible.

In the unlikely event I am unable to lead the retreat day due to emergency or illness, I will offer an alternative date for the retreat to take place. If you cannot attend the alternative date, you are able to transfer the booking to another retreat day of your choice.

Deposits are non-refundable, as this ensures the day can go ahead as planned for the other attendees.

Are you trained? Have you got insurance?

Yes, I am fully insured for teaching yoga through public liability and  professional indemnity policies. If relevant to your enquiry, I also have two enhanced DBS checks for my employment as a teacher, and volunteering through Girlguiding. I have an up to date first aid qualification and L3 safeguarding training.

My yoga teacher training was a 200 hour (in person) course with Yoga Hero in Leeds, and I qualified in December 2024. Modules included anatomy, the philosophy of yoga, and an in depth exploration into asanas and planning, alongside regular observed classes, I've since taught classes weekly.

What style of yoga do you teach?

I practice and teach Vinyasa style yoga. Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that means 'to place in a special way', and in yoga terms, this means movement with breath. Vinyasa can be fast paced, but also slow. It is a versatile form of yoga that suits a wide audience. It is not a set sequence like Ashtanga. I am undertaking further training in Yin Yoga in April 2026, so will add this into schedules in the new year. I do offer adjustments (small movements to some poses through touch) but this is entirely optional through an 'opt in' card that you will be offered in classes or on retreats. I do teach yoga to curated playlists, that I really enjoy making to suit the style and pace of the class.

I don't have my own mat, does it matter?

Not at all. I have 12 mats from Yogamatters and enough yoga bricks (a prop used in yoga to extend poses/comfort/space) for everyone to have at least 2 each. I also have bolsters and blankets for Shavasana (resting pose) or relaxation. If you struggle sitting on the floor for extended periods of time, there are chairs available too.

You are welcome to bring your own equipment if you wish to.

What will the lunch and snacks be?

The food will all be vegetarian and focussed on whole, non-processed foods. The lunch and snacks will be made with a seasonal approach, so consideration will be made to fruit and vegetables that are readily available in the UK at the time of the retreat days. The choices will be communicated through the WhatsApp community before the retreat commences.

All dietary requirements will be catered for and alternatives made for allergies where possible. There is a small Asda petrol station shop opposite the venue if you needed to buy something on the day.

What do I wear and bring on the day?

You should wear comfortable clothing that allow for movement. Bring a layer or two for relaxation and parts of the day where we might not be moving around as much. It is a church hall, and there is heating but as you can imagine, it is a little draughty at times.

In terms of what to bring, just yourself, an open mind and anything you personally need to be comfortable and self-regulate.

Where is it and how do I get there?

If you use what three words app, here is the link: ///notes.hails.metals
https://w3w.co/notes.hails.metals

If you use Google maps, here is a link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HjfGLTiUbR3Mf7UL8

The address is: Church of the Holy Redeemer, 108 Boroughbridge Road, York, YO26 6AB.

There is ample parking but if you prefer to use public transport, the church hall is on the number 5 and 10 bus routes. Both of these bus routes stop near York Railway Station if you were travelling by train. The hall is convenient for access from York Outer Ring Road, if you were travelling from Leeds, Harrogate, Thirsk or the coast.

The hall is about a 30-40 minute walk from York City Centre.

This sounds great, I'd love to do something like this for a friend's birthday/a group I run/a school (delete as appropriate!) Can you offer other classes?

Yes, I offer bespoke options too, such as birthday parties, celebrations, community groups, schools etc. Get in touch via email or WhatsApp (links are below, or hello@cabbageandplum.co.uk) and we can have a chat about what you would like.
